So, Penny Arcade is looking for someone willing to do FOUR incredibly difficult IT jobs, be on-call 24/7, and be pushed to their limits, but isn’t exactly willing to pay you for it!
You know, despite the fact that they are a highly successful company that rakes in a ton of money for themselves by running several massive conventions every year and had all those Kickstarters that did super well.
But hey, if you’re a fan of Penny Arcade you probably don’t mind being exploited for the chance to *gasp* appear on camera sometimes! Right, nerd? You don’t care about being paid as long as you can live out your nerd dream working at the ultimate nerd company for nerds! It’s a dream come true, right? You don’t need to get PAID for dreams!
This sickens me. They can more than afford to properly pay an IT person a decent wage, most likely two so the job isn’t so harsh on a single person!

Uh – a job? Full Dental? Paid Vacation? Good Pay? I mean they don’t expect you to sit around and do ‘just enough’ to barely get by. It’s a job at a really well known company. ( And for an IT job, this actually doesn’t sound TOO bad.) Hell, I want a challenging job to push me to my limits, I like being challenged that’s how I get better.
Not all of us can or want to scrape by barely paying rent by freelancing and drawing dudes cumming on each others faces all day.
Yeah, and it doesn’t say it DOESN’T pay, just that their primary focus is not huge gobs of money. So it’s not a free job, it’s a job with medical insurance and vacation time that is willing to move YOU to be where they need you to be, rather than making you do it yourself.
Is it a rough stick? Sure, for what it is, but it’s a lot less rough than some of the fucking bullshit people have to do now, so I’m sure for some qualified people this really is a step up.
Besides, who knows what they’re willing to pay? For all we know, not focusing on a huge salary could still mean making 20 bucks an hour.
Except that it does say that they don’t pay. Not there, but in the section:
"We are quite literally looking for a person that can do four jobs”
If they wanted to pay, they’d pay four people for four jobs. Instead they’re going to get one person who is going to be mediocre at all four because anyone who is actually experienced enough to do all four isn’t going to touch that job with a ten foot pole.
