Why do characters with alter-egos almost always seem to have glasses in their meek and boring daytime selves and then ditch the glasses in their badass catsuit-wearing gun-slinging secret selves?

Does their confidence fix their eyesight? Do they fumble around with contacts in their transformation sequences? Will I stop being blind if I start dedicating my evenings to kicking some punk ass?
