Would you say the DK’s need to cause suffering is common knowledge? I RP it as being a sort of thing kept between DKs, and maybe a few trusted living folk, and it sort of serves as a struggle for my character. I simply imagine not many people might know about it because DKs have a hard enough time fitting in. Your thoughts?

owlpellet:

I think by now plenty of people know about it through word of mouth. They told a friend, that friend had to explain it to a family member, that family member mentioned it at the tavern, etc.

I can see a pretty even split on how the DKs themselves handle sharing it. Some might be ashamed, or not want to talk about it for fear of tempting themselves in a place where it’s not appropriate, or just don’t want to frighten people. They won’t lie about it and will discuss it if asked, but won’t bring it up for no reason. The sort who want to fit in with the living.

Other more aggressive, less-social types might use it as an intimidation tactic. “I haven’t drawn any blood yet today, so who knows what I might do if you continue talking?”

There may even be a bit of contention between the two types. One side accuses the other of being too soft and gentle, inviting the potential for danger because people don’t understand how dangerous they are if you hide it. The other side is accused of being needlessly aggressive, making them look like monsters, and alienating them from the living.

I’m an Anti-Braker

robertmoorejr:

Guys, I wanted to let you know about a personal decision I recently made. I don’t really feel like discussing it, but I want to put my position out there. Please be respectful. This is a really long post, but please read the whole thing.

I’m taking the brakes off my car. This isn’t a rash decision, so please listen up.

A few weeks ago I saw a car accident – two people went through an intersection at the same time. Both slammed on their brakes at the same time and collided. Fortunately no one was seriously injured.

But then it occurred to me – if they had just gone through the intersection, they wouldn’t have collided. The brakes CAUSED the accident!

So, I decided to do my own research and what I found was *staggering*: Hundreds of people every year are seriously injured by unnecessary braking. One time, I was driving in the snow and I just lightly tapped my brakes and it caused my car to COMPLETELY LOSE CONTROL. My brakes could have very easily gotten me killed. Even more astoundingly is how often brake pads will warp and distort rotors, causing bumpy rides and squeaky wheels.

And you know what? I also found that decades ago brakes weren’t even used! People would control their vehicle’s speed with downshifting and engine braking. Maybe it’s just coincidence, but back when engine braking was used there were almost no automotive fatalities. There were NEVER brake caused car accidents.

After doing some more digging, I found a nefarious plot – Mechanics: The very people who we trust to work on and care for our cars – get PAID to install and change brakes! You might THINK they care about our safety, or our cars – but they’re just in it for the $49.99 brake pad installations.

So I talked to my Mechanic about taking the brakes off my car and I was disgusted by how poorly he treated me. He accused me of being ignorant, when I was the one that looked up how much rotational torque brakes can put on your rotors. He didn’t even know how much torque a rotor can take before being warped!!! He said “rotors are designed to be compressed, that it isn’t actually a problem” just completely dismissing me.

Then he had the NERVE to say that my personal choice had consequences, that I would affect everyone around me. Well I’ve had it with him, I’m looking for a new mechanic. The problem is that so many mechanics are bought and paid by the automotive industry that ALL of them are insistent about my car having brakes. Most of them won’t even look at my car for other reasons, saying that a brakeless car could cause damage to their shop and other cars. What a bunch of bullshit, they just don’t like those who believe in alternative braking techniques.

Now of course big government is getting involved, saying that I *MUST* have brakes. That this isn’t just about me, and that I could hurt people. What happened to personal freedom? What happened to liberty?

So all I’m saying is, do your research. Don’t just listen to the NTSB and big automotive. I made a personal decision for my family, we just said no to brakes. We’ll be using natural remedies like Gravity, and putting our feet on the ground to stop. After all, if that was good enough for me when I was on my bike as a kid, it’s good enough for my children in my car.

Please keep the comments respectful!

Lovelies, I want you to remember something important

tmirai:

If whatever you create is dear to you, it does not matter what other people think about it. Like, literally, it does not. The opinions of others do not dictate its worth and importance, nor do they define the merit of what you create. No one on this website, not even the greatest of writers or artists or creative thinkers, have the qualifications or title to tell you that what you create isn’t worthwhile doing or sharing. This site is full of opinions: thoughts and feelings that only hold truth for the person thinking them. But they do not have to hold truth for you.

Approval is important to us as creative thinkers. And as numerous as the positive, cheering, supportive voices may be, that one or the few voices of  negativity can seem to have more weight and truth. But it -we- who give them that truth. It’s we who decide that the one anonymous voice of criticism is more important than the many of praise and admiration. I know it is not so easy to just ignore the negativity, and the solution to strengthening ones’ sense of self worth can be very difficult and more complex. But if you start with putting this in perspective and using it as a mantra to remind yourself, I promise it will help.

You have to find the balance of seeking approval and validation with finding worth and value inside yourself. It is hard, and everyone’s journey to doing so is different. But if you try, it will lead you to much more healthy and self-sustaining confidence and joy.

( also a giant thank you to everyone for all the nice things you said while I was wallowing in misery, I won’t be able to thank you all enough )

Part of the reason Tev and Feiyn moved from Krasarang to the Jade Forest because the conditions in Krasarang made Tev smell even worse. (Even w/ the constant blood DK regenerartion)

vulcanyounot:

look enough of this ‘typical vampire falls for human and stops drinking blood for them’ nonsense okay. give me better vampire stories

  • vampires whose thirst is tied to love; the eternal, insufferable, agonising burning in the back of their throat only ever cured by the blood pumping in the veins of their lovers, the impossible choice between quenching their thirst and keeping their love alive.
  • vampires whose only masters are their human lovers; the sweet tang of blood hiding just underneath fragile human skin turning them to their lovers will, building a mountain of corpses from atop which their lover lords.
  • vampires whose lovers are their life source; who hide in plain sight, the charming carer of an ever-anaemic spouse, whose lips drip red with their lover’s wilfully given blood, living symbiotically on stolen time until veins run dry or old age wins and they are alone.

better yet, give me stories about vampires without humans

  • vampires who have loved and will love each other forever; made of the same master, born into darkness together and finding light in one another, fights that last centuries and gift of the blood of noble lords and celebrities as their anniversaries become centenaries.
  • vampires who were made too far apart; a daughter of the industrial revolution loving the son of globalisation, pink haired millennials with ironic fake fangs falling for an ancient priestess of pagan times long gone, the children of the old world finding love with the new.
  • vampires who love differently after they’ve turned; the feelings are harsher, stronger, burn their ribs and send electricity down their spines, an agony only eased when they’re together, cupping blood in cold palms and watching the curve of their lover’s neck as they bend to drink.

just give me new vampire stories. vampires that work in different ways, who are still the things of nightmares, but not for the same reason, not in the same way.

During the assault on icecrown Tev regularly attacked the scourge forces by jumping off of Ogrimm’s Hammer and landing on a target.
