I always thought it’s an interesting deconstruction of the piece of art itself, you take something that makes perfect sense within the context of the artwork and then force it to stand on its own. We all know that the troll is buttfucking the elf, but by removing the rest of the image it forces you to examine the expressions that the two of them have, which is why everyone has the reactions in the tags.
