Hey hey guys! I’ve been away for too long. Just wanted to share my latest Blizzcon costume! One on the left is me from Blizzcon 2 years ago (taken by Joits). On the right is me this year (taken from official Blizzard page). I accidentally forgot a piece of my costume and it’s bugging me a bit, but otherwise, here is my Anduin costume from Legion! I can already tell this expansion is going to be filled with all of the feels. I feel Blizzard has big plans for our young prince…
I do not dislike people who are into musical. I just feel a bit sorry for Hamilton (like, the real Hamilton) and Laurens (also the real one), because they’ve never been the most known people, but now, in addition to that, they are also becoming substituted with the musical characters. I do not appreciate Hamilton being substituted with LMM, however sweet the latter may be. Also imagine yourself constantly writing posts about America and me reblogging and tagging them with “Ukraine.” What if I do that along with some friends? Like, 20 times a day? Will you be annoyed even if you have nothing against Ukraine? If you have any respect to Alexander Hamilton, you will not consider his life a fictional story.
Are we going to gatekeep, guys? Really? Because I’m pretty sure most people here can tell the difference between fact and fiction; that it’s a hip-hop musical casting POCs as the Problematic Dead White Dudes was probably the biggest giveaway. Like before this musical, apart from history students, almost no one knew who the majority of these figures were. At best, people might have known Hamilton was that dude who got shot, or that GQ mother on the ten-dollar bill. This musical has exposed people to a history they might not otherwise have found accessible or cared about before. People are interested in history – that is great! And it wasn’t done in an intellectually dishonest way, unlike some other visual media surrounding this time period.
I mean, I don’t remember people ever getting angry at 1776 for “substituting” the actors for the historical figures. But for some reason (tú sabes), historical gatekeepers are holding Hamilton and their fans to a much higher standard than they do other visual representations about this era.
