list of very specific terms that have been censored and sanitized to hell and back and lost their original meaning
✔️ intrusive thoughts
sorry if thats not thats not #aesthetic #dark academia #cottagecore of me but publishing my intrusive thoughts would instantly get me on like 10 different government watchlists.
Uhhhhh UHhhUhhhUhhh intrusive thoughts are like. Your worst fucking fears and moral repulsions playing traumatically on repeat and terrorizing you. They aren’t fucking poem ideas. Idk what kind of intrusive thoughts they have but I would kill for ones that didn’t make me want not be on the planet… tbh
I……………….hate this take
Look I get the concern of things being watered down and all that, but art is 100% a way for some people to deal with intrusive thoughts (Also why is everyone assuming these people are posting their art online about it? I have a journal full of fucked up poetry/journal entries and it’s all just for me).
Like I’m schizophrenic, and literally my therapist was the one who told me to deal with my intrusive thoughts this way and it isn’t like I’m the only one who uses art that way. One of my favorite bands literally has so many songs about doing awful things to people (framed in a negative light) that like it really isn’t that uncommon to write about really violent and awful thoughts in your head or draw about them or whatever. Like I said, it was even advice given to me by my therapist.
Is the Twitter person using “intrusive thoughts” correctly? Who knows! But saying that writing and poetry is a bullshit way of coping is just another cog of this whole cultural phenomenon that pushes back on any advice on how to cope and I hate it lol
Like, idk. If it doesn’t work for you fine. But it’s certainly worked for me and a whole lot of other people.
Anyway I don’t care about op, this rant was more for people who saw this and might feel ashamed of how their go about dealing with their symptoms because if I was teen me I probably would have felt the same
