just FYI this is usually going to be humalin, which is a different formula from what most diabetics use! “normal” insulin is fast acting and works within 30 minutes, while humalin takes up to 3 hours to reach its peak effect. it’ll keep you alive, but you’ll have to RIGOROUSLY count carbohydrates, and your blood sugar probably won’t be as well controlled. it’s a good temporary thing to keep you out of the ER, but unless you HAVE to use it, it’s usually nowhere as good as humalog/novolog/etc.
