HOOO boy I’ve had a nasty cold for about a week now, but I’m finally starting to get better! Sketched these out while looking at some references, wanted to see what Naga Steve would look like in a more realistic style.

-Another tidbit about this AU. After becoming good friends with Steve, Eddie decides to get the back his hands and fingers tattooed with tiny black scales. They’re some of the most painful tattoos he’s ever gotten, but he’s damn proud of them when they’re done.

-He surprises Steve with them a few days later while they’re lounging on the porch, soaking in the last few hours of sunlight. He takes off his gloves and splays his hands out before a stunned Steve and says “Hope you don’t mind me stealing your look.”

-Steve is too flabbergasted to say anything at first. He just grabs Eddie’s hands and studies the tiny delectate ink work. “But…why?” Steve can’t help but ask. He can’t comprehended why anyone would want to look like him, and yet here was Eddie doing just that.

-Eddie’s smile softens at Steve’s visible confusion. “I just told ya, I think you’re look is cool. Do you like them?” He asks, wiggling his fingers

-And to Steve’s surprise he answers “Yeah…actually. I do.”

there’s a thing I think about sometimes when I’m writing that I call ‘the rabies condition’

by which I mean: there are no contraindications to getting the rabies vaccine for post-exposure prophylaxis.

every other vaccine usually has a few contraindications like ‘don’t take this if you’re allergic to it’ or ‘if you’re pregnant discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor’ or ‘don’t give to children below age 6′ or something, but not the rabies vaccine. if you’ve been exposed to rabies, there is literally no medical reason that can justify not getting the rabies vaccine–you can be deadly allergic to literally every single ingredient and the correct decision is still to administer the vaccine, because if you don’t, you’re 100% guaranteed to die of rabies. even the life-threatening allergies are a step up in survival rate (especially since anaphylaxis is something that can be managed, even if there are risks associated with it)

which is to say, the rabies condition: if a character has been ‘exposed to rabies’, aka, in some impending absolute worst-case scenario, like the apocalypse or some death curse or the destruction of their entire city via demons or whatever, then that character has to take action and the consequences and risks no longer matter, because literally any other outcome would be better, and 1% chance of survival is still better than 0%. that doesn’t make those actions necessarily good, the same way that injecting yourself with something you know you’re deadly allergic not a good thing to do, but it’s still better than dying horrifically of rabies. desperate times and desperate measures etc

and then, after your character’s prevented some horrible thing by doing some almost equally bad thing, they should absolutely experience the consequences of those choices.

For those of you watching the death spiral of Twitter in real time THIS IS WHY us fandom olds always defend AO3 and it’s donation drives.

Twitter is an incalculable loss for artistic expression, news, and so many other facets I can’t even begin to count.

This sort of loss of information is impossible with AO3 and how it’s set-up. Obviously an AO3 style model isn’t sustainable for every site bc the moment images get involved the server costs skyrocket exponentially, but now more than ever the theory applies.

AO3 is an archive of our own, donators have direct say via vote about what happens to the site, you help shape it.

As long as AO3 has donation drives and doesn’t rely on advertisers it will remain around as a foremost place of art and freedom of expression. What happened to Twitter can’t happen to AO3 as it currently exists. And that is why we fight tooth and nail to protect AO3 from corporate interests and out of touch billionaires like Musk.

I hate that Twitter is dying and that anyone has to experience it, but please learn from this experience!
