ms-demeanor:

I wonder if people say this about people standing in line at a movie theater. Or buying gas to go on a camping trip. Or picking up ice cream at the grocery store. Or buying a paperback book.

You have to let people pay for entertainment without being shitty about it. You have to let people spend money on little things that bring them joy without trying to excoriate them with guilt over not using their entertainment money to feed a child or buy someone else’s medicine.

Do you know why? Because otherwise the burn out and become incapable of helping anyone even when they want to.

Anyway, if you pull this shit on one of my posts I’m blocking you.

Yeah I’m gonna give this site money. I’m going to give this site money because if I don’t advertisers are gonna give this site money and that money isn’t free.

Advertiser money comes with expectations that they get a return on investment that is something less immediate than “you can exchange money for goods and services/”

Buying no ads, or blaze or Blue Internet Checkmarks is not only fun for me, but an way to make sure that this hellsite remains the sort of hellsite we want it to be.

And even when I DO give financial aid to people that aren’t as fortunate? It’s not performative so:
That’s None of Your Goddamn Business
