I’m glad to see that 10 years hasn’t made us any better at handling trash.

THEORY TIME

Okay, in your garrison, there’s a place you can put up monuments for achievements you’ve gotten. They give you a little preview. This achievement, though, isn’t in the game.

But here’s my theory on what it means! Note I have no idea what happens beyond the Spirit of Kairozdormu with the legendary quest, though I see that achievements beyond this patch have yet to be put in. I don’t want to see spoilers about the rest of the legendary for this patch, so pls don’t correct me if I’m wrong with anything in this. Just chuckle to yourself and scroll past. I’ll find it out soon enough anywho.

Anyway. I THINK THAT the Burning Legion is the real enemy of this expac. The Shadow Council and Gul’dan, I felt, was a threat on par with the Iron Horde throughout questing. Blizz has already stated that the last raid will have a Burning Legion influence, too.

SO. Judging by the achievement text, something – or many things – are going to happen “over and over again.” History is going to repeat itself. Gul’dan noted that Grommash would “pay for his arrogance.” It’d be interesting if Grom ended up succumbing to demonic influence in the last raid, so it’d be history happening again. Blizz also said that Grom would be the final boss, so this + them saying the Burning Legion influence in the last raid would make sense.

I also think that Gul’dan will be the harbinger of Sargeras.

Okay. I know this is where it’s gonna get weird, but in Main Universe, Gul’dan was promised the power of the Tomb of Sargeras of Medivh. He conspired with Medivh, who was possessed by Sargeras (or at least, some essence of him). So, I mean, what if in this AU, Sargeras instead used Gul’dan as his harbinger, or as his vessel? The monument is also called “The King in Green,” and Sargeras is the “king” of the Burning Legion.

ALSO. The monument is Khadgar vs Gul’dan. The message says what we’ve done, we’ll continue to do, again and again. If Gul’dan ends up being Sargeras’s harbinger or vessel or whatever, Khadgar fighting him would be just like when Khadgar fought – and eventually killed – his master, Medivh, who, again… was the vessel of Sargeras. So that’d be Khadgar repeating his own past.

But maybe something will happen, or someone will fail, and the next expac will be a Burning Legion expac. Who knows.

I liked thinking it was a tongue in cheek references to both the fact that we went back in time, and that’s exactly how raids work.

We go in, kill the dudes, collect our loot. Tuesday comes, the raid resets, we come back and do it all over again.

And we do it over and over again. (See: Seige of Orgrimmar)
