Everybody who’s leveled to 90 the last two years knows about the Sunsong Ranch! A magical farm that grows fruits, vegetables, crafting materials, and the occasional turnip that doesn’t like to be eaten.

There were also NPCs that would help you decorate the dilapidated farm, growing an orange tree, giving you cats… It was more than a resource vendor, it was a little slice of Azeroth carved out just for you. It was the first thing close to a player house in WoW you had seen.

And now it’s time to leave.

Warlords of Draenor launches next week, and brings with it massive strongholds that spew forth crafting goods like a golden horn of plenty. All the dailies, all the building, all the questing, make you less likely to return to the ranch. It will be like Quel’Danas was in Burning Crusade.

I realized this two days ago. So I decided I’d give my sunsong ranch a proper send-off. After I gathered up my last harvests (ores) I planted saplings on every plot. They’ve grown into big colorful trees now.

We now move forward with happy memories of being knocked around by wild plants and giving concussions to squatting vermin.

Happy memories of our slice of Azeroth.

Our first slice of Azeroth.
