Blizzard says it works to ensure that its games are inclusive, and it won’t permit tournaments to use its games if they don’t support this.According to this article, IESF originally segregated the genders because it was trying to get e-sports into the Olympics, which does not have any gender-integrated events.
Part of me wants to say that was ambitious, and part of me wants to say that was silly.
Hearthstone tournament explains why women aren’t allowed to play
“In accordance with the International e-Sports Federation’s (IeSF) tournament regulations, since the main tournament event is open to male players only. This is to avoid possible conflicts (e.g. a female player eliminating a male player during RO8) among other things.”
What the actual fuck?
Reason #239519 I need Feminism. I hope Blizzard does something about this
wtf
God fuckin dAMMIT
If blizzard knows about this and doesn’t do anything or worse supports it I /will/ quit wow no matter how much I like it

so you’re keeping women out of competitive gaming because…women might beat men at competitive gaming?????????????
in a competition???????????????
where the whole point is to beat your opponents?????????????
masculinity is apparently the most fragile force on earth to be shattered by the mere concept of a loss against a different gender
Better remove all female characters from all tournaments. Wouldn’t want to damage a dude’s ego because he lost to chun li.
The unfortunate thing is, if you read the whole story, the whole “a woman might beat a man” thing isn’t that particular tournament having weird hangups about male egos, it’s because for the larger tournament they’re trying to win a place at doesn’t allow women to play most of the games men do. Women can’t compete at Dota, Hearthstone, or Street Fighter, guys can’t compete at Tekken, and men and women can’t compete against each other at Starcraft. So if a woman won the Hearthstone tournament the Finnish champion would be ineligible to compete at the IeSF World Championship.
Because apparently the IeSF is under the impression that saying “girls can’t play Street Fighter and Boys can’t play Tekken” makes them seem more like a “legitimate” sports organization to the world at large outside of eSports.

This seems to amount to “We want to be taken seriously as a sport, and since other sports don’t let men and women play together, we won’t either.”
Really? Really?!
what the fucking fuck
Actually reblogging again to highlight this little gem:
“This is to avoid possible conflicts (e.g. a female player eliminating a male player during RO8) among other things.”
Like, uhh, what? If a conflict is going to arise because a player eliminates another player then gender is not your issue.
This article pretty much says that part of their reasoning is that conflict my arise because the fragile egos of some male e-athletes might not be able to cope with being beaten by a girl.
This is hella dumb:
“Your information is indeed correct, the tournament is open to Finnish male players only,” said Markus “Olodyn” Koskivirta, head admin of the Assembly Summer 2014 Hearthstone IeSF Qualifier, in a statement to PC Gamer. “In accordance with the International e-Sports Federation’s (IeSF) tournament regulations, since the main tournament event is open to male players only. This is to avoid possible conflicts (e.g. a female player eliminating a male player during RO8) among other things.”
Koskivirta’s argument is that, by allowing women into their qualifier, there’s a risk that the winner wouldn’t be eligible to enter the IeSF’s World Championship final.
Blood elves are equal in combat.
Female blood elves are on the front lines.
Male blood elves help heal the injured back home.
Not one is more superior than the other. Fucking shut up and deal with the fact this world’s treatment of women is not reflected in the blood elf society.
This was sadly another female blood elf RPer that stated she wouldn’t be allowed on the battlefield. At least her toon’s point of view. If it’s her toon’s point of view, then there’s definitely no excuse.
Well someone better go tell Lady Liadrin that.
I’ll just stand waaaay over here.
also somewhat unpopular opinion i guess but the huge interspecies romance taboo in roleplay is pretty arbitrary

Manga Studio 5 is like a mix of Painter, SAI, and Photoshop. It’s my favorite app to make art in and, at that price, there’s no reason not to try it too.

Unbelievable: Harvard Students Now Must Attend Class on ‘White Privilege’
In a ridiculous move by the administrators of Harvard’s Kennedy School, the school of government, the administrators have caved to demands by leftist students demanding that the school create a man…Mandatory indoctrination now even on what used to be the best places to learn real things. I sure wonder what it’s called if you tell a part of the population that their influence is bad and that they should feel guilty simply for being of a certain race.
SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS??!?!?!??!? IN A SCHOOL?!?!? WHEN WILL CULTURAL MARXISM END

Does your character have tattoos or piercings?
Ama has the facial marks/tattoos similar to what many scourge/cult members had, though death has faded them somewhat. (I think Thassarian has them too). She also has a scourge insignia rather blatantly on her right forearm and she keeps it covered. It glows- along with unholy runes on her body- when she casts specific spells. She’s tried to get rid of it but there hasn’t been much success.
Iris has multiple earrings and she swaps them around purely for vanity’s sake. She’s got a stupid amount of scars but no tattoos as of yet.
Noralla has runic glyphs and wards mainly concentrated on her arms and hands to assist in spellcasting. She also has earrings and wears a fair amount of jewelry.
Icthlarin has a ton of earrings in her ears and she’s carved a few of them herself; there’s a lot of shamanistic charms and stuff there, and she likes the aesthetic of them because they’re unusual. She’d probably have more than one nose piercing if she had a nose, but she’s a Broken so that’s sort of out. 🙁
Gideon is a forsaken and is missing a lot of skin, but he used to have a ton of tattoos while he was alive. A lot of them were placed there to cover the names of girlfriends he had (he didn’t learn the first or third time). He had an earring as well.
Due to his family being slightly sadistic, Varaelian has runic tattoos that stretch from his upper back to his hip then on the front from his shoulder his hip again. It was given to him after a sort of rite of passage when he turned a specific age and had to take over the family. He has several other smaller wards along his hands to help him heal, a gift from a friend… sort of.
No really crazy piercings to mention, just the two on his lobes and the cuff at the top.
Vaelios is decorated with a runic pattern that stretches from the back of his neck to the backs of his feet that is otherwise invisible until active. It’s a sort of ward that protects from the shadows but also calls them when in need.
He only has one piercing and it’s just a normal ear one.
Tevruden is covered in runic tattoos that both help reanimate him and focus his power when he uses it. They usually glow dimly but will brighten as he exerts more effort. His ears are pierced but he doesn’t care enough to replace the earrings (they were lost sometime between the time he was reanimated and when he was freed from the Scourge.)
