guys i am really really terrified of elevators ok
whenever i get in one i feel like the cable making the elevator go down is gonna snap 

That actually happened to someone:

Elevator operator Betty Lou Oliver was injured. Rescuers decided to transport her on an elevator which they did not know had weakened cables. She survived a plunge of 75 stories, which still stands as the Guinness World Record for the longest survived elevator fall.

Mind you, a plane had crashed into the building just before this.
