They are doing this because Biden and the democrats PASSED A LAW capping insulin at $35. This isn’t voluntary out of the goodness of their hearts. Democrats need to start being loud about their accomplishments on behalf of the American people.
The problem with Evil is that it is very LOUD and SCARY…so it gets all the attention.
The problem with Good is that it tends to be very quiet and soothing…so it often passes unnoticed.
We need to be LOUDER about our GOOD ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
Thanks to Biden, my husband (a Type I) had to pay $300 for insulin this year, instead of $2000.
When I created this blog, I knew there would be those who opposed it and the contents, I knew this conversation would be had (I honestly welcome it), Iâm a bit disappointed you didnât try to include me in that conversation.
I completely understand the opposition to AI generated art and text, I’m sure artists felt the same way when the camera was invented. I do want to be very clear when I say, I firmly believe AI generated art and text should NEVER be used as a final product to replace artists or writers.
My content on Tumblr isnât a a final product, I gain no money or fame from making these posts. For me, Tumblr is a sandbox where I can explore themes like whump have fun! I’m not seeking any kind of ‘cheap clout’ or really any clout at all (I think that is an unfair assumption) I’m simply sharing my creative experiments on a platform that I believe welcomes them. My intention is not to undermine writers or steal their âsolidarityâ, but rather to add to the diverse range of creative voices on Tumblr.
While this blog is only about a day old, I have received very positive messages from those in the whump community, and that means the world to me.
I had planned to extend to have an open conversation about the process to create AI art or text, AI in general, and my blog, but on top of your comment you’ve blocked me. So I extend the invite to anyone else who wants to chat.
When the camera was invented, it did not create the photographs by using other people’s work.
It doesn’t matter if what you make with AI isn’t a “final product” or that you gain no money or fame from it. It still adds to the problem AI is creating for artists and writers, no matter how much you might do it for your own fun or “creative process.” What you are doing when you make these images and text is steal from other creatives. It is based SOLELY on plagiarism and on other people’s work. The creators of Midjourney have themselves been exposed for laundering and creating databases of artists that they use to train the AI on. LINK TO TWITTER POST HERE
Not doing it for “clout” or money or fame or any of those things doesn’t matter. You’re STILL adding to the problem and throwing your fellow creatives under the bus.
I have no intention of debating, discussing or talking to you about this. I know you mean well and want to help create things, but doing it with AI is wrong and you’re only causing further harm to the artists and writers and creatives around you. If you TRULY understood the opposition to AI created images and text, you wouldn’t be using it.
What is fan fiction if not stolen characters and worlds? What are gifs if not stealing someone elseâs work? Did automation put a lot of factory works out of a job, yes, but it also created a lot of new jobs and skills. We grow and change as a society, AI is part of a big change for us.
How do we learn to write if not from reading other peopleâs work. AI isnât going anywhere, and writers already use it every day (hint: spell check). AI is a tool and I donât think thereâs a harm in using it as such.
Iâm not asking anyone to like AI, I am not hiding what this blog is. All I ask is that people not be rude about it.
Oh my god shut the FUCK UP.
Clearly you have no respect whatsoever for both the artists (digital and writers alike) and for the creative process. You have no right to begin comparing the creative process of writing fanfiction, which requires so much real, personal, human input to the soulless bastardization of the process that is AI-generated shit.
Don’t you dare compare fanfiction, which is a real human outpour of love over someone else’s creations – characters and worlds – to the fact that AI reads into patterns and makes a medium with no real care for it other than a means to an end.
We learn to write by reading and developing our own feelings and basing experiences on it. I will be fucking rude about it because you’re justifying art theft. AI learns by thievery, that’s literally what it is. Database scrapping does not ask the artists for permission. AI cannot write fanfiction because AI doesn’t care, AI cannot create good art because it doesn’t care, AI creates pattern-based art on people who cared. People who spent thousands of hours, labor, resources and love on their crafts and didn’t even get asked whether their content could be used to feed these monstrous algorithms. If you don’t understand enough about art, shut it.
Spell check has also been shown to be inefficient, ineffective and even more so: morally based because it picks up on things such as racist vocabulary, because, guess what! It learns from used patterns! An AI generated fanfic is a lazy way to go about saying ‘I myself do not personally care for this media I claim to love, I just want to consume more random content for it’ and that’s exactly what you are doing with your generative art as well.
I personally will be very rude about AI use because AI use is disrespectful in every way.
Fan fiction is still taking someone elseâs work as your own, I donât care how much love and energy you put into it, they are not your characters and they are not your world.
You can get as mad and rude as you want about it, but it is a simple truth.
There are literal court proceedings about this and I will not spend my time debating with someone who doesn’t comprehend the difference between theft and disrespect versus creative demonstrations of love and appreciation.
Fanfiction dates to a time everyone had to let you know: I do not own these characters and the media they come from. Those are literal fandom history, learn your media literacy.
I enjoy the cognitive dissonance of you knowing precisely that what you’re doing is abhorrent behavior while trying to justify it by going ‘oh but everyone steals too!’ when, in fact, fanfiction writers and real fanartists are going ‘oh I love this person’s creations! I want to appreciate it more! I want to see more of it under a different lens!’
You can justify your AI theft shit as much as you want but I also can be rude and point out you lack ethics and be as rude as I desire about it.
Fanfiction and fanart has LONG hard won battles that say: This isn’t theft because the people creating it are doing it for the love of the craft.
AI is theft because: one, it has never asked for permission and two, it legally belongs to no one since it has no legal standing to exist.
“You don’t need to like AI but no need to be rude about it.” I will be rude about it and keep disliking it. You’re an unethical fandom creator and therefore, I will expose you for it, even if I have to do so by myself.
Copyright laws donât care about your feelings, love and adoration donât factor in.
Fan fiction is theft because the write never asked for permission and the characters and story belong to a production or publishing company.
Both fan fiction and AI canât be copyrighted for the same reasons.
Fine, be rude, itâs says a lot more about you than me.
You’ve made it quite clear you have no respect for writers, artists, gif makers or honestly any creator of any kind.
Fan fiction is theft because the write never asked for permission and the characters and story belong to a production or publishing company.
@i-am-ai-whump Fan fiction isn’t theft, it’s a “derivative work” and it’s very obvious from the fact you’re using words like ‘stealing’ and ‘theft’, you have no idea how intellectual property works, and you have no idea why nobody who makes art thinks its transformative in anyway, and that you need to sit down and stop talking.
people misunderstand what âgifted kidâ actually means but itâs ok itâs fine itâs cool itâs good
itâs not about actually being gifted, itâs about an initial higher scoring on standardized testing that means little to nothing or being good at learning in the way elementary and middle school wants you to, so you get marked as âadvancedâ. in reality, maybe you had faster development in certain areas, but the issue with being a gifted kid isnât that âeveryone told me I was so cool and special for reading and then I actually wasnât :(â itâs âI wasnât properly taught to handle things not coming easily to me, but the adults around me were counting on me not being a âdifficultâ child in school.â
people who use it as some weird bragging method or interpret it that way are ignoring the way a lot of school systems force certain roles on students to simplify the learning process. If your kid doesnât need to take notes to understand a science concept bc they get it naturally, well thatâs good, but now youâre not teaching them how to take notes and theyâre not learning that important soft skill. but because âgiftedâ kids are easy and donât show that theyâre falling behind in learning in other categories that are harder to quantify, they eventually fall behind after that catches up to them. Itâs about the failures of a one size fits all school system trying to compensate in the worst way possible.
And also the thing where âgiftedâ kids are super likely to also be neuroatypical, which they donât get screened for because they appear to be doing well in school. Or âYou canât be ADHD/autistic/etc, because youâre doing so well in school!â. Or being shamed for developing mental health issues/generally not being able to keep up with school work later, because you USED TO BE able to do it just fine.
Or the assumption that just because you can read well or you like math class, youâre somehow more EMOTIONALLY mature than your little kid brain is actually capable of being.
Or gifted kids whose parents and teachers put immense pressure on them to Do Great Things and Save The World and youâre like. âIâm 10 and I have no idea how to do that, but everyone is saying thatâs my job?â.
This is the best âgifted kidâ post out there. I never took notes until college because I didnât have to, snd when it got challenging I had to literally teach myself note taking at age 18. It also fucks with your perception of asking for help – youâre advanced, youâre competent, you should be able to understand every topic easily. Asking for help/going to office hours/asking for a tutor feels like failing when you were praised in your early years for not needing to do that.
had a dream where Tom Scott was covering a centuries old wormhole distorting the spacetime of some inn in bumfuck england. the wormhole ate him and grew larger and larger before consuming the entire country
