I donât think youâre ready to have an adult conversation about politics until youâre able to admit that there are things you love and enjoy that would not and should not exist in a just world. $8 billion dollar budget movies every other month donât exist in a just world. New 900 GB AAA video games every year donât exist in a just world. Next day delivery doesnât exist in a just world. 80 different soda brands donât exist in a just world.Â
All of those things come from exploitation on some level, and if you wouldnât trade those for a world where everyone can eat and have a home no matter who they are or what they do, I donât know what to tell you.Â
Donât see how you can say that any of that shit would definitely not exist in a just world. People like to make art, including collective art; the production process would look very different, and maybe an AAA game would be impossible without exploitation â but maybe it would be possible. We donât know. Weâre talking about a radically different way of organising human society than has ever existed, so how can you write with such certainty about what would be impossible?
youâre seriously misreading the post. the op did not say that movies or video games or soda or delivery would not be possible in a just world, but that a new massive AAA game every single year would not be possible, an 8 billion dollar budget movie every month churned out like that would not be possible, next day delivery would not be possible, hundreds of different soda brands would not be possible. the speed of these things is the largest indicator of exploitation, the relentless churning out of content at such a rapid pace in pursuit of profit that requires more exploitative working conditions for those doing the labour. the post is saying that labour that isnât exploitative means that these things need far more time, to happen less often, to slow down, to be done with more consideration, to value the people and labour that goes into it above the pursuit of money, not that âart would not existâ and if you read it more carefully and in better faith you would know that
This is a really interesting take, because yes UPS overnight gets you whatever orders you have off the Internet when you want it the next day, but this is ALSO the same infrastructure that gets things like telecommunications electronics across the country overnight.Â
Iâve seen more than my fair share of outage tickets from one phone company or another talking about an issue with a broken fiber optic cable that say âFix pending Line Card/Amplifier/etc. to be overnighted from X to Y.âÂ
Will it decrease? Yes.
Should it decrease? Yes.
But it seems very naive, just for the sheer lack of nuance, to say that all of that is going to outright stop âin a just world.âÂ
Some people will see Rachel wearing earrings and take it as proof that morphing doesnât heal all injuries and not even consider the possibility that Rachel just forces earrings through her perfectly smooth earlobes every time she wants to wear them. đ
What if she actually just leaves the earrings in and under all that bear fur her ears are secretly pierced
yes nfts are ugly as sin but on god i hope weâre not going to collectively forget about the fundamentally capitalistic bullshit foundations of the entire concept of nfts once they start making ones that look like fuckable anime boys
not to give anyone any ideas but if someone starts trying to sell personalized nft waifus or catboys under the guise of having them be your SO in the metaverse or whatever we have to laugh that shit into the ground before some people get too horny on main and decide to legitimize manufactured scarcity to score virtual anime ass
So this isnât exactly what you are talking about but I did immediately think of this post when I saw this
itâs the kind of scenario i envisioned when i made this post, actually! it wasnât just limited to horny stuff, the nightmare scenario extends to everything that could appeal to demographics besides nftbros with the aesthetic sensibilities of rick and morty and this definitely counts lol be wary of any âgirlbossâ shit or attempt to pander to any niche subcultures you might be a part of
Just for once Iâd like to tell the gate agents and flight attendants that my folding wheelchair is going into the onboard closet and not have them tell me thereâs âno roomâ. Bitch thatâs a wheelchair closet, not a âyour bagsâ closet. Move your damn bags where they belong.
Ok, so according to my friendly aviation expert, this is a Big Fucking Deal. In fact, if an airline argues with you about putting your wheelchair in the wheelchair closet or even suggests there may not be room, unless there is already anotherpassengerâswheelchair in that closet, they have violatedfederallaw.
CFR Title 14, Chapter II, Subchapter D, Part 382, Subpart E, Section 382.67, Subsection (e)
âAs a carrier, you must never request or suggest that a passenger not stow his or her wheelchair in the cabin to accommodate other passengers (e.g., informing a passenger that stowing his or her wheelchair in the cabin will require other passengers to be removed from the flight), or for any other non-safety related reason (e.g., that it is easier for the carrier if the wheelchair is stowed in the cargo compartment).â
This is hugely important because it means that if this happens to you, you should report their asses to the DOT. Why? Because these statistics are published every year for every airline, and the airline gets a huge ass fine for every violation. If we want to see change, we need to make airlines literally pay every time they treat us this way.
@annieelainey you should share this with your followers! This is important info!!
To my mutuals on wheels, print out the law before you fly and whip it out at the gate if they donât accomodate your wheels.
Thanks a lot for posting this, bro! Flying while crippled is already difficult enough without people pulling this kind of shit. Also, make sure that if there is a piece of your wheelchair or something important missing off of it, that you make a big fucking deal out of it! Iâve had pieces fall off of my wheelchair and nearly lost a decoration I had on it that meant a lot to me because people were careless with my chair. Donât let them mistreat your wheelchair.
