“In 2012, after nearly twenty years of ongoing problems with therapists and doctors for access to medical gender transition, I learned that Planned Parenthood in my area had begun offering Informed Consent access to hormone treatments.
I cried when I left that appointment because it was the first time I didn’t feel like I was viewed as a collection of charts, lab results, and case files, but as a person, treated with respect and the right to make informed decisions about my own body.
The treatment, such as it was, by my previous doctors had pushed me deep into depression, and Planned Parenthood giving me that access helped me to recover.”
