Unclear what the benefits of Not Voting are. I don’t really see it being very disruptive to fascism. Seems pretty helpful to fascists, honestly. Letting the far right voters decide the elections unopposed may not have the desired effect of forcing the government to shift more to the left. Judging by the EU elections, it looks like it just ends up with far right leaders getting elected. But maybe the counter here is “well voting doesn’t help either because both sides are bad.” And yeah, you’re right, the status quo does suck shit, I hate leaders like Biden. But as bad as things have been in recent years, I gotta ask, are you absolutely sure things can’t get worse? Because I’m looking at the EU right now, with the fascists gaining power, and I can’t say I’m especially confident that this won’t have any new consequences.

I think some of y’all might be seriously underestimating how much worse Open Fascism is. And no, not just for privileged folks but for everyone. Like we all agree that every minority had it even worse in the past right? The same past that the fascists want to “return” to? I didn’t just dream up a whole history of bloody oppression that people have been fighting against for centuries right? Surely we made some progress worth protecting. This ain’t me arguing to maintain the status quo, fuck the status quo, this is me begging y’all to give a shit. Do something. Organize something. If you know a secret better option that will actually defeat both fascists and centrists, then please campaign the fuck out of it, I’ll even join you. But it has to actually do something.

The thing about ADHD is that the “lack of reward chemicals in your brain” doesn’t just mean that you don’t want to do any tasks that don’t feel particularly yummy :(, it means that your brain will look at chores and tasks that need to be done like “doing this would be painful and tedious for absolutely nothing to gain from it, Do Not Do That.” The same thing that your brain tells you about everything else that would feel really bad and hurt the entire time that you’re dying. The part of your brain that stops you from doing the thing is the same part that keeps you from shoving your arm into a wood chipper.

With unmedicated, unmanaged ADHD, “I have to do this assignment or I fail and my life will be ruined and I die” feels like a SAW trap, every single time.

I don’t care about Dungeon Meshi otherwise but “Tallmen” is SUCH an elegant solution to placing humans in a fantasy setting that it’s still blowing my mind. Just the term itself is enough to instantly recontextualize humans. They’re no longer the default race. They’re those big goobers with long legs, striding about all the time. I can so easily envision much more interesting relationships between humans and non-humans because of it. Like perhaps “tallmen” are stereotyped as shepherds by other races because they can watch over their flocks better, or as vagabonds because they are better suited to long travel on foot. And of course, they don’t *literally* have to be taller than everybody else, they were just the tallest around whenever the label became the norm, or something like that. I just feel like it’s so much better than what I’ve seen in settings like D&D that go “and humans are the… adaptable, generalist people :)!”
