Im so tired of the “fandom is a queer safe space” mantra because its complete bullshit.
Fandom is a queer safe space if you’re into cis, white/white-passing, gay dudes touching dicks.
Bi or pan people, if they’re not invisible, are subjected to the “you’re actually a gay guy/straight woman” treatment because Rule of Dicks.
Ace/Aro (which is a gigantic swath of very different kinds of people) people are invisible, if not turned into the New Gay Friend for the gay male couple.
Lesbians are either incredibly predatory and villainous or tragedies there for cheap emotional gut punches.
Sorry, but fandom is very much still ruled by heteronormative views on queerness, just views that tend to be formed by straight women as opposed to straight men.
