learned today that people in the wow rp community are now experiencing instances of RPing with someone for a while before it becomes evident that the replies they’re getting are chatGPT generated.
i would feel so offended and almost taken advantage of/used if i found out someone was just ai generating responses to me. that would basically mean they’re a passive non-participant and using me as a tool for their entertainment and not a mutual creative endeavor.
kids using character.ai to rp instead of finding a community to play with is sad enough. actually seeking out a community and then creatively catfishing real writers is some next-level grotesque.
Shoutout to the Elder Millennial at the table next to me at the gaming bar, whose barbarian just charged into battle shouting “LEEEEROYYYY JENKINS!!!!”
and then had to stop and sheepishly explain a World of Warcraft meme to his genZ GM.
