When I say other social media platforms are hostile to human life and folks are like “oh, and Tumblr isn’t” – no, Tumblr in fact is not. Tumblr is merely indifferent to human life. This is not what active hostility looks like. To paint a planetary analogy, Tumblr’s user experience is the surface of Mars; Twitter’s user experience is the surface of Venus; Facebook’s user experience is the surface of Neptune.
Tumblr/Mars: You could stand on it, but Bots are currently the dominant species.
Twitter/Venus: The thick atmosphere makes the surface unknowable, but we know just enough to know it would melt a human
Facebook/Neptune: There is no surface. You sink through layers of ads until you die
