I’m a classical buff, and something kind of interesting I noticed is that the Knights of the Ebon Blade have a slightly similar mindset when it comes to a god overcoming your will, in that the consequences of whatever you do while that god controls you are still your responsibility. Vengeance was a huge reason they went to Northrend to slay the Lich King, but a few of them also mention that they’re… atoning for their sins, or seeking redemption, or something. i can’t remember the wording.
Heracles went through the Labors to atone for killing his wife and children, despite only doing so because Hera drove him mad. So the Knights of the Ebon Blade are basically a bunch of grimdark Heracles.
