So I’m reading up on this and it sounds pretty cool?
First off, this isn’t Jughead as a side character in Archie’s comic. This is from the preview for Jughead #4, where Jughead is of course the staring character.
It’s not really just one throwaway thing either. It’s apparently a very heavy theme of the comic that Jughead is a teenager surrounded by sex crazed teenagers going on all sorts of crazy sexual adventures, but he just doesn’t connect with any of that.
The author Chip Zdarsky feels that Jughead has actually been written as asexual through most of his history, but we just didn’t have any proper understanding of the subject or the appropriate terminology to discuss it. So a lot of previous writers have rationalized his lack of interest in terms of woman-hating or have viewed him as mentally stunted due to their ignorance on the subject.
It might not be perfect representation, but it’s pretty big. I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say it’s possibly the biggest form of representation asexual people have ever gotten. Jughead’s a household name staring in his own solo title where his asexuality is thoroughly and explicitly explored, written by a guy who views asexuality as a real and legitimate orientation and understands the importance of the terminology.

You know, I like to think that Chi-Ji would be super pretty and fabulous in his belf form… Knowing Blizz, he’d prolly be more buff and wrinkly, but eh, he’s really cool regardless :’)
