I think the worst thing that could be held against me is that I used to very actively post on Warcraft Sues around Wrath and early Cata, but that’s not exactly a secret. I’m pretty open about my sordid past and am the first to offer up insights into the mentality behind things like it when they come up.
This game is so much easier when you stop giving a shit about what other people are doing.
sorry if u or abby felt like i was attacking you with mentioning “warcraft sues” ppl, i wasn’t intending to but GOD that kinda stuff makes me seethingly angry, the same kinda angry when ppl on tumblr try to be edgy by making fun of young teen’s OCs like WHO CARES IF IT’S A FUCKING SPARKLEDOG WE ALL KNOW AND SO WILL THEY IN 2 YEARS JUST LIKE LET THE KID HAVE FUN AS LONG AS IT’S NOT HURTFUL especially when it targets young girls with their “mary sues” like there’s a definite cultural gender bias that girls acting out their power fantasies are derided but not guys with their marty stus
so even the ~perfectly beautiful goddess elf~ types don’t peeve me
WE NEED TO FOSTER CREATIVITY IN YOUNG PPL, NOT EXTINGUISH IT BRUTALLY WITH OUR HARDENED ENNUI FOR LAUGHS
AND I WILL GET VERY PASSIONATE AND VOCAL ABOUT IT
Nah I was just musing about what sort of negativity I’ve personally been a part of, because if I’ve fucked up in the past, I want to own it. Bad characters will still get a chuckle out of me but I’ll find something that appeals to me elsewhere instead of dwell on it because at least they’re having fun.
The thing both of these subjects have in common is that they mask themselves as being “good for the community”. The MRP deconstruction parades around as being writing critique and holds a claim that ~the community~ will work together better if everyone’s on the same page about lore, when it’s unlikely they’d RP with those people even if they did follow the lore, because RP servers have an enormous population and are also unmoderated.
Secret blogs like this just hide behind victims of abuse and claim that they exist solely as a place for them to come forward, despite also being unmoderated and allowing vast quantities of passive-aggressive shitposting. If they want to help abuse victims, they’d make a safe space dedicated to doing so. But they don’t, they just want to watch people snipe at each other anonymously and use the rare good thing that comes of it as a shield. I’d love to see an anonymous safe space for talking about harassment! But that would actually be helpful and wouldn’t give you any reason to break out your popcorn, would it, blog mods?
