I hate when people take role play so seriously that it becomes personal. When you can’t separate OOC from IC.
You’re probably saying “Well I always separate IC from OOC.”
Are you sure?
These last few months I’ve noticed situations where I was brushed with OOC backlash over in-character situations. It’s getting down right frustrating, too. I’m starting to get a little fed up with it and feel like it’s time to address the topic right now.
It’s like we forget the fact that they’re fictional characters not really attached to us in any way played in a fictional universe.
Is there any explanation? Am I being unreasonable and not understanding that sometimes people are going to put their feelings into certain situations in a story? I want to try and understand.

I’m not really sure that’s correct. If your character isn’t attached to you in ‘any way’; why are you playing them?
Because I like to write stories. Especially about pirates.
If you generally enjoy the story that you’re writing for your your character, I’d there is some sort of attachment.
Mind you, I am not saying that people don’t take this too far. Just that everyone has some reason that they RP this particular character.
